When Kawasaki designed the 550, they used an alloy wear ring with a stainless liner as a cost-saving measure. However, this design has a downside: water can seep into the liner, causing it to swell and separate from the aluminum. This separation leads to impeller contact, resulting in wear and, eventually, a jam that can prevent your ski from starting.
Kawasaki ceased production of these liners five years ago, and no new ones are available.
The Wax Racing Products Pump Liner is constructed entirely of stainless steel. This eliminates the risk of bulging and jamming, and ensures no prop wear. Investing in a stainless liner means you’ll never need to replace it again, as it is designed to last indefinitely.
